A Study on the Status of Maternal Health in Kwang-Ju- Area

Abstract
|
|
|
A study on the status of maternal health of 755 pregnant women who visited Maternal and. Child Health Center, Chonnam University Hospital during 3 years period form 1973 to 1975 was carried out.
The results were as follows:
1. Age at first delivery: The age of 25-29 years was 54.1% and showed 25.24 years on the average
2. The frequency of pregnancy in order was as follows l time 28.5%, 2 times 17.8%, 3 times 16.4%, etc. (the average: 3.14 times).
3. The length of pregnancy observed at the first visit to MCHC showed.7.5 months of pregnancy on the average.
4. As to the place and helper of delivery the hospital or health center was 73.1% home 23.0%, and 62.4% of subjects were delivered by doctor.
5. The average visit to the MCHC during the survey period was 2 5. times per pregnancy:
6. 13.1 % of subjects had a various degree of toxemic symptoms edema 68. 7%, hypertension 8.1%, and edema combined with hypertension 23.2%.
7. 29. 2% of subjects experienced the abortion. 10. 1%, 18. 1 % of them experienced spontaneous, induced abortion, respectively.
